Vocational Rehabilitation

Partnership

That’s what Vocational Rehabilitation is all about. If you have a disability and intend to work, we are your partner in the employment journey. No matter what your disability is, if it is keeping you from working, we can assist. Our clients’ disabilities range from paralysis and amputations to arthritis, heart disease, deafness, loss of vision, epilepsy, alcoholism, learning problems, and mental and emotional illness.

If you are of employment age, have a disability, potential and willingness to go to work, we are eager to be your partner in becoming independent. It isn’t always easy, but we’ll work together every step of the way.

Jointly, you and your counselor will work to identify your skills, abilities and interests. Together, you’ll develop a plan, then work to reach the goals you’ve set. This individualized plan for employment will specify the services you receive.

You may need just a few or many of the services provided by Vocational Rehabilitation. We will work with you to determine your needs. This information will be confidential.

Services

Evaluation
You may need to change careers, find a new job, get your first job, or return to your job. Your counselor will help you identify your particular strengths to enable you to choose the job that best meets your individual interests and capabilities.

Medical Help
If medical assistance is required, we will work with you and your doctor to get the treatment you need.

Assistive Technology
We can evaluate your need for special assistive devices, help you obtain them and learn to use them.

Training
Job specific training, both on the job and in school settings, is available as needed to help you prepare for employment.

Education
We can help you identify and pursue additional education including postsecondary studies and support services that are necessary to help you achieve employment.

Tools and Licenses
If you need tools or work licenses, we’ll work with you to get them.

Employment
When you are ready for work, we will combine our efforts to find the right job for you.

Follow-up Services
Even after you have a job, we will stay in touch to assure that you and your employer are satisfied. Remember, we’re only a phone call away.

Payment

Vocational Rehabilitation may pay for services necessary to achieve your employment outcome. If you are financially able to pay a portion of the expenses, we will ask that you do so. We also require that you use other resources available to you such as insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, Worker’s Compensation, Pell Grants, etc.
